This fabulous Victorian Suffragette brooch is Circa 1900.
The brooch displays a beautiful basket of flowers which is adorned in pretty pink, green and white sparkling Paste Stones, that represent the Suffragette movement.
Emmeline Pankhurst was the leader of the British Suffragette movement in the 19th century and through her efforts won the right for women to vote.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
Paste is a transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. White Pastes sparkle just like Diamonds, captivating the allure of natures beauty.
The brooch is all set in a Silver gallery and decorated beautifully.
This brooch is a wonderful piece of history and looks fabulous when worn.
