This beautiful Victorian style insect brooch was made representing the Suffragette movement.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The wonderful brooch is decorated in violet Amethyst’s, green Peridots, sparkling Diamonds and a fabulous large cultured Pearl abdomen.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
The brooch is set in Silver, gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold and fitted with a sturdy pin and safety catch.
Complete with a lovely green box with blue Velvet interior to store the piece in.
This is a lovely Suffragette style brooch that looks beautiful when worn, a great talking piece!
